Evolutions 1

Tony Isaac, February 23, 2006

1In the beginning, there was nothing.  And the nothingness was without beginning and without end, for there was no time.  2And suddenly, there was time, and there was light, and there was a great explosion.  And there was no one to see from where the explosion came.  3 And the explosion was so great that the particles flew faster than the light.  And the particles became a great cloud that filled the heavens.  4 The particles bumped into one another, and formed clumps.  And the clumps grew, and formed planets, and stars, and black holes, and the earth.  5Millennia came, and millennia went--the first eon.

6And the earth was full of volcanoes and toxic gasses.  The smoke from the volcanoes hid the sun, and caused global warming, until all of the ice on the earth melted.  7Water filled the ocean beds, and a slimy ooze began to stir in the pools on the ground.  8And the ooze brought forth proteins, and the proteins brought forth DNA, and the DNA brought forth living cells.  9And there was no one to be amazed at the wonder of life that had begun.  10Millennia came, and millennia went--the second eon.

11 And the cells stuck to one another, and they formed clumps, and they worked together to form living things of all kinds.  12And the clumps of cells became stems, and leaves, and roots, and flowers, and seeds.  13And the seeds grew into new plants, so that the land produced vegetation of all kinds, and the earth was covered with plants.  14Millennia came, and millennia went--the third eon.

15 And some of the plants lost their roots, and swam in the sea, floating whichever way the waters were moving.  16 And the sea creatures grew mouths, and scales, and bones, and tails.  Gills formed on their sides, eyes appeared on their faces, and brains grew inside their heads.   17And the sea creatures mated, and lay eggs, and the eggs grew into perfectly formed offspring.  The sea creatures multiplied, and filled the oceans, so that the waters were teaming with them.  18Millennia came, and millennia went--the fourth eon.

19But the sea creatures were not content to remain in the water.  They grew legs and learned to walk, and lungs to breathe the air, and they walked about on the land.  20And the land produced creatures of all kinds: creatures that move along the ground, and livestock, and wild animals.  And the creatures were called animals21But the animals were not content to live only on the ground.  They grew wings and learned to fly.  And the flying creatures were called birds22Millennia came, and millennia went--the fifth eon.

23All of the animals were dumb.  They could not speak, or think, or understand.  24 But some of the monkeys began to use sounds to speak to one other.  25And the monkeys made plans, and worked together to build huts for themselves to live in, to protect themselves from the weather.  26 And the monkeys lost their fur, so they made clothes for themselves, to cover their bodies, and to keep themselves warm.  27And the monkeys knew that they were greater than all the other creatures that roamed the earth.  And they called one another men and women28Millennia came, and millennia went--the sixth eon.

29Some of the men and women became scientists, and professors, and the scientists and professors decided that there could not be a God.  They taught their children that they were nothing more than a cosmic accident.  30And the children became fools, as the scientists and professors had done, and they said to themselves, "There is no God!"  And they did whatever they pleased.  So the children worshipped themselves, for they believed there was no one greater than themselves.  31 They scorned those who believed in God, saying "God is not scientific."  "God did not create the world in six days," they said.  32"How silly to believe that everything was created from nothing by an all-powerful God.  We are enlightened!  We now know that everything was created from nothing--by no one at all!"
